From August 23rd, Facebook are changing the way their Business pages are displayed on their mobile app. The layout tweaks and visual changes attempt to make the social network easier to interact with on smart phones.
There are 10 different templates to choose from including sticking with ‘Standard’ which is the existing layout.
- Standard
- Services
- Business
- Venues
- Movies
- Non Profit

Standard is ‘Good for all Page types, with buttons and tabs to help showcase what’s important to you.’ Services is ‘Designed to help people find your services and get in touch’. Business is designed to help you manage your business, including ways to post jobs and special offers.
Restaurants & Cafes is designed to highlight photos and important info about your menu, hours and location. Nonprofit is designed to highlight your cause and encourage people to fundraise and donate to your nonprofit.
‘The focus here is to make it easy to discover new businesses which we think any business will be excited about,’ Facebook’s vice president of Local stated.
In 2016, Facebook added recommendations as a way to poll your friends for cool spots to see, eat, and visit when you’re on vacation. The social media giant now wants to expand that feature beyond holiday polls to include recommendations for local businesses, too.
With the new changes, when you recommend a local business or restaurant to a friend, Facebook will encourage you to write a longer version of that recommendation as well as add photos. This will then be added as a review to that business’s Facebook page.
Facebook will automatically switch you to the most suitable layout for your business type and it is recommended that you go ahead with that, as it should help encourage more engagement with your brand and activity on your page.
