Located 15 km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, Moorabbin is known mostly for its regional general airport, Moorabbin Airport. The airport, also named the Harry Hawker Airport after the pioneering Australian aviator Harry George Hawker, was opened in December 1949. The airport grounds also house a large group of retail outlets developed on portions of airport land at the corner of Centre Dandenong Road and Boundary Road.
Moorabbin Oval is Home to the Moorabbin Kangaroos Football Club, competing in the SFL and was previously used by the St Kilda Football Club in VFL/AFL games between 1965 and 1992, and currently serves as their primary training and administrative home ground.
